Supporting Survivors During the Holiday Season

Purple Christmas bauble border

Though the holiday season is a joyous time for many, it can be an especially challenging time for survivors of domestic violence.  November through January is a busy time at the First Step Shelter; we typically see an increase in the number of survivors seeking help and safety.  Because survivors often must flee their homes with little or no money or personal items, it can be difficult for them to provide gifts for their children.  This is an added worry for many of our clients.

If you would like to help us manage the increased need in our shelter and make the holidays a little brighter for local survivors of domestic violence, check out our holiday needs list below!

Towels/Wash Cloths

Laundry detergent (pods or liquid)

Twin Sheets & Comforters

Pots & Pans

Snack foods

Winter Coats (women, children, and men)

Christmas gifts for children and teens(toys, scarves, gloves, winter hats, gift cards, etc.)

Christmas gifts for adult clients (lotion, scarves, gloves, winter hats, nail polish, gift cards, etc.)

You may drop off donations at:
