First Step’s Children’s Program is available to provide support, activities, and a sense of normalcy for the resident children. Attention is given to the developmental stages of children, anxiety levels, depression, aggression and their all over physical well-being. Parenting information, education and support is also available to our shelter residents and non-residents. Parenting classes discuss the impact violence has on the lives of the children, stages of development, discipline alternatives, communicating with children and other parenting issues as needed by the group.
